Happy Birthday Owen!

Yesterday was Owen's first birthday! We started the day out with presents and pancakes and then headed up to This is the Place Heritage Park. Is was so fun to be with our family and it didn't rain too hard on us! I think Owen's favorite part was petting all the animals- although he showed some slight hesitation at first, he eventually warmed up to them.



Owen's favorite toy is this "popper". He loves it! Whenever we go over to my parent's house it is the first toy he grabs and he never lets go! And of course we had to get him a football.





Tonight we had family over for some cake and ice cream. Owen didn't quite dive into his cupcake, but I think he'll love chocolate more and more with each passing year, he is a Hinckley after all!

Family photos

Last weekend we asked Clark to take some pictures of our family before he and Kathleen leave for Spain. Mostly we wanted pictures of Owen since he will be turning 1 soon- but we thought we better take advantage of having a photographer, so we took some family shots too- luckily he hadn't shipped his camera yet!





I started looking back at the pictures we took of our family when Owen was first born, what a difference a year makes!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun weekend! It started out with Joseph's birthday! 26 years old!



Then Friday we headed down to Scipio with the Koelliker family; we had a good time playing games, feeding the horses, eating junk food, and napping.





We came back on Sunday to spend Memorial day with the Hinckley's. We went to our grandpa and grandma Hinckley's grave, and then spent the afternoon up at the cabin.




I was thinking back to last year on Memorial Day and remembering how Owen was almost born that weekend- I can hardly believe that it has almost been a year since that little boy came into our lives!

Grammie and Aunt Holly

Grammie (Kathleen) and Aunt Holly were driving back to Ohio this weekend, so to break up the trip they stopped and stayed the night in Lawrence. They arrived at 1:00 am on Sunday morning and had to leave by 9:00 am the next morning. It was so quick but it was so nice to see them for just that little bit of time. It was so nice to say that we would see them in just a week!

Deanna Rose Farm

This past week we went to Deanna Rose Farm with some friends. It was really fun to be with friends and to be out in the nice weather. Owen liked seeing all the animals and being outside.



Owen loves taking his right shoe and sock off. It is the first thing he does when we put him in his car seat, stroller, or anything else. By the third time of putting it back on at the farm- I ended up just leaving it off for the rest of the day.

Grandma

This past week my Grandma passed away. She was 92 years old and lived a long and good life. It was sad to not be there when she died, but Owen and I were able to fly back for the funeral. We loved being able to be with family and to remember how amazing and wonderful my grandma was. She was so kind and loved knowing everything that was going on in my life and always gave such good advice. We will miss her, but are happy that she gets to be with my grandpa now, who we know she missed so much!
