"Someone told me it's all happening...

                                                                                              ...at the zoo."

"It's a light and tumble journey
From the east side to the park;
Just a fine and fancy ramble
To the zoo."

I had that old Paul Simon song stuck in my head today as we drove to Topeka to take Owen to the zoo with some friends (listen to the song on the playlist). It's not a very glamorous zoo, but since it was Owen's first time, he didn't really mind. It was just the right size to be able to circle the zoo before the baby falls asleep. The weather was wonderful and it was the perfect Saturday afternoon activity; much better than being glued to my chair on the 4th floor of the law library.

We tried to explain to Owen that the African animals come from the same place where his Koelliker grandparents are right now, but he was more interested in eating his hands than looking at the giraffes.

Owen's Latest

This is another one for the grandparents. Owen is ticklish.

Grandparents 24 hour visit

A week ago my parents stopped in Kansas on their way from South Africa onto Utah. We loved being able to see them if only for about 24 hours. We had just enough time to do a little shopping downtown, go to dinner, and play with Owen- which is all Grandpa and Grandma Koelliker really wanted to do! It was hard to say good bye, but we will see them again in April!

September in Kansas

This September, the best month of the year, has been full of football, birthdays, and relaxing Saturday evenings. Here are just a few pictures from the last couple of weeks in Kansas.

Happy Birthday to me! (This picture was taken early in the morning- obviously)

This is Owen just looking a little sad- it's hard when he looks so cute even when he cries!

This weekend we went over to Clinton Lake, it is close by where we live, it was fun to just walk around- but it made me want to go waterskiing, maybe next year!

Buddy Mondlock Returns to Greyhaven

Buddy Mondlock is coming to my parent's cabin this Saturday for a house concert. He came a few years ago and had such a great concert, he's back on the schedule. Buddy's songs have been performed and recorded by David Wilcox, Nancy Griffith, and Joan Baez, just to name a few. But there's nothing like hearing the songs from the one who wrote them. Find details and directions here.

Next up on the calendar for Greyhaven House Concerts: Chuck Pyle, the Zen Cowboy, on October 17.

Wish we could be there, but I'll be briefing cases.

Any response, Kirk?

Two weeks ago, Kirk Herbstreit (ESPN's College Football Gameday) said that BYU was "ranked way too high." When asked about his prediction for the BYU-UCLA game this weekend, Kirk said that UCLA is the better team by far. He went further and stated that what the UCLA head coach has done is "just magic." He said that UCLA is better at every position and there was "no doubt" the Bruins would come out with the victory.

As it turned out, BYU handed UCLA their worst loss in 80 years; 59-0.

Well, Kirk. Do you have anything to say for yourself?
